sync problems

  • Nov. 8th, 2009 at 7:18 PM
I have a user whose iPhone won't sync properly to his exchange calender on his PC. I am responsible for smartphones at my work and have been troubling shooting this issue for a few days and can't figure it out. I went into setting and hit sync, which didn't reconcile anything. He can accept a meeting notice on exchange on his pc and on his iPhone it will show not accepted. Does anyone know how to make it sync. It's not limited to recurring meetings, or people outside the company.

For those who might have missed it, McDonald's is serving the ribwich McRib here in Columbus. I have eaten two and I can vouch that they are amazing. I'm not sure how long they will be around.

So basically here's the deal.

I graduated in 2007 with a BA in International Relations, which led to me joining the Peace Corps. In the Peace Corps, I spent 99% of my time working on public health issues, such as HIV/AIDS advocacy, sex ed, handwashing techniques, the importance of filtering water, etc. etc. During that time, I realized that a) my BA is pretty much useless, and b) that I was really enjoying what I was doing, and maybe should have considered a medical field of some sort.

Additionally, my entire. damn. family. works in the medical industry somehow. My mother's head nurse at the local hospital, my dad was a nurse, my brother is studying nursing, my fiance's a doctor, all my aunts and uncles are nurses of some sort, etc. etc. So I know the reality of the job, after having spent much time visiting my mom or dad on their floors. I also worked in the ER for three years as kind of a pre-triage receptionist. I wanted to be a doctor for a long time, but it was never feasible for me.

Now I'm moving back to the US with my fiance, and I'm very aware that a) there's a nursing shortage, b) I love being in hospitals and talking about medical stuff, even if I know nothing about it, and c) I am an intelligent human being. After talking with my mom, she and I have both decided that maybe it'd be a good idea for me to go back to school to be a nurse (with my long term goal to get an MPH/MSN and work in Community Health).

My question is this: I already hold a BA. Would it be more advantageous for me to go get a BSN and try and transfer as many credits as possible (which wouldn't be many, since I didn't do hard sciences in college), and spend three years at school, or would it be better for me to just get my associates? What is the difference, exactly? With an Associates, could I skip the BSN and go straight to an MSN, since I already have a BA?

Basically, will you help me decide my somewhat-immediate future?

Disk is completely filled up

  • Nov. 7th, 2009 at 7:29 AM
The startup disk on my MBP filled up completely over the last day or so. It was getting up there, but on Wednesday *the last time I checked* there was 14 GB free. When I woke the old boy up this morning, I was greeted with the "Startup disk is almost full" message.

Poked around but I must confess I am not really sure what I should be looking for. Or how to, really.

But I looked around found a few redundant files, moved them to the trash, emptied it. The disk size briefly fluctuated and almost immediately went to zero KB available.

I haven't got a clue what is going on here.

What should I be looking at or for?

Apps?

  • Nov. 7th, 2009 at 12:21 PM
Hi there. Yes I know I am horribly new. New to iPhone as well.I got working fully on thurs morning Aussie time and I am already addicted.

Alright here is the question, does anybody have issues with sounds with certain apps. I ask because I have become hooked to " spore origins" game and every now and then the sound will go really quiet and then go back up again after maybe thirty seconds. I know it's not how i hold my phone because it's the only app that does it. Has anyone else played it and have the same issues?

Also does anybody have any recs for games like spore, I feel i may finishing it soon and I would not Mind something similar

Firefox hanging upon startup

  • Nov. 6th, 2009 at 5:50 PM
Here's a tricky one for you: after my Mac wakes up from sleep (either display sleep or full sleep, it doesn't matter which), Firefox will not start up properly. The icon will bounce, then stay "lit," but the application window never appears, and I have to force quit. The only way to fix it, so far, is to log out then log back in. As you may guess, that's a pain. Anyone else have this issue? And more importantly, how did you fix it? (The obvious choice - never let the system go to sleep - is not an option for me.)

PS - I'm running an iMac 21.5", 4GB RAM, OS X 10.6.1, and Firefox 3.5.5. Addons are Echofon, Adblock Plus, and NoScript.

Safari upgrade

  • Nov. 6th, 2009 at 10:52 AM
Ever since I upgraded to the latest version of Safari, I've had these funny downloads automatically pop up called ch.ashx.
Does anyone know why this happens? Is it a virus? Does anyone know how to make it stop?

thanks

T-mobile Coverage

  • Nov. 6th, 2009 at 10:19 AM
I've had T-mobile for 6 years or so and have been happy with the coverage for the most part. Suddenly in the past few months I have had a HUGE amount of dropped calls, periods of time where texts won't send, and a number of occasions where people never saw that I called them (I don't always leave messages) or they get my voice mail days later.

Is anyone else suddenly experiencing this crappy service?

Don't date an iPhone user?!?!

  • Nov. 5th, 2009 at 4:49 PM
Did you guys see this article on how we're not the best people to date?!?!

I cry BS. None of the questions in this so-called research project apply to me.

Puh-leaze.

Big Run Park

  • Nov. 5th, 2009 at 4:12 PM
What's the story behind this place? Couldn't find much online.

Down a cracked-up road and across a fence, I saw five or six horses behind a barn. There are various objects that seemed to be left over from who knows how long ago, short roads from nowhere to nowhere, paths that are barely recognizable, and unexpected patches of cement that don't seem to be attached to anything. It's like a crumbling ruin that used to be a busy suburban park.

BA to RN to NP

  • Nov. 5th, 2009 at 12:24 PM
Hey All,

I'm an American interesting in going to nursing school. I'm interested in getting my RN and NP in one fell swoop. I currently have a BA. I know of two programs in the USA that offer this however both are horribly expensive. Does anyone know of any schools that aren't horribly expensive that have a program like this?

Thanks, Sara
